a guide to conceiving, creating & publishing your own website
There are many types of websites. It can be hard to choose what kind you want to make, and you never have to stick to just one kind for your own website, but it is good to keep them in mind.
These are about what you would expect: logs of someone's daily life and the things they've done, at least related to this or that topic which the site focuses on.
Blogs can take many forms. Maybe they are updated daily. Maybe they are updated sporadically, with texts about math in video games, or a "top 10" list. Anything can go here, as long as you know how to put it into words.
If you store a lot of images, for example to show off your photography or art, maybe a gallery would suit you. A neat way to show off your images, organised or not.
It's easy to set one up. On this website, you can even learn one way to do so.
An "archive" is a vague term. It refers to any collection of records, but you can decide the theme of that collection.
You could index your own writing, or you could create an archive of information about something you like or something you've come up with on your own; maybe you could collect graphics under a certain theme, or have a place to store and show off sewing patterns you've made (or found).
Do you have information to share with the world, or do you have things for other people to use? Do you plan on this? You could set up a website to share things more easily.
You could present guides, like this website here aims to. You could share graphics for other people to use, cute emoticons for people to copy and paste, or general knowledge. You could carefully compile links. It's all up to you!
Is there something you really like? You could express this love in a comprehensive fan site. There are many ways to do this. You could focus your energy into character analysis, or reviews, or your take on all things to do with that interest. You could create a beginner's guide to your interest, to help people learn.
You could present the basic information and a whole lot of links and let people run free. Or maybe you could compile absolutely everything to do with your interest, down to the molecule and become the number one fansite.
